The differences in a person’s brain structure may explain their political bent, according to a new study by British researchers. [extract] In a large sample of young adults, researchers with University College London related self-reported political attitudes to the brain’s grey matter volume using structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. [extract] “We found that greater liberalism was associated with increased grey matter volume in the anterior cingulate cortex, whereas greater conservatism was associated with increased volume of the right amygdale,” the study says.
